Dyson, Inc., Chicago Brought on board early in the process, Victor Construction was able to work as part of the design team, providing input on overall design, materials, value engineering, and budgeting. The Dyson space consists of 25,800 square feet of usable space. The final design utilized the exposed construction and the natural light from the exterior wall windows creating an open loft feeling. When partitions were necessary, glass partitions were utilized or clerestories were included in drywall partitions. Bamboo flooring was used extensively throughout the space keeping with the corporate desire to utilize green products. Carpet tiles were used in areas where noise levels were an issue. Ceilings were left open with exposed electrical and mechanical installations. All open ceiling areas and equipment were then painted a uniform color as were the new partitions and existing columns. The existing masonry in the exterior walls and interior bearing walls were cleaned and left exposed. Included within this open environment were all up- to-date power, lighting, HVAC, data, and security features. |
